    Butter paneer/tofu/chicken can be made with with firm or extra firm tofu for a fully plant based dish (PB) or with paneer if vegetarian (VG). Paneer is often available in many grocery stores. While you can use grilled chicken pieces, marinating them first gives you much deeper flavor.

    Serve Butter chicken or paneer as a centerpiece for a meal with rice or a pita/ whole wheat wrap.

    What else do I need to make this recipe:

    12 oz paneer or tofu cut into 1" cubes; for butter chicken use 1 1/2 lb chicken cut into cubes
    1/2 medium onion, thinly sliced

    2 tomatoes or 1 cup, chopped 
    1 tsp chopped garlic garlic

    2 tbsp. smooth cashew, almond or nut butter
(optional, but recommended) - you can use peanut butter but the dish will have a peanut flavor
    1 inch ginger (or enclosed pack)

    1/2 cup yogurt
    2 tbsp light cream
(optional)
    2 tbsp Oil
or butter
    1/2 - 1 tsp Salt
    Pinch of sugar
